What to Expect From Laser Hair Removal at Salt Haven Med Spa

Our laser device does more than hair removal, and it’s built to handle it without the rubber band snap feeling most people expect. Here’s what’s different about it and what it’s good for beyond hair.

What laser does Salt Haven use?

Basically, one device, two lasers: an Alexandrite (the 755) and a YAG (the 1064). Between the two of them, we can treat a wide range of skin types and a wide range of concerns, not just hair.

Why doesn’t it feel like a rubber band snap?

Most people who’ve had laser hair removal somewhere else describe it as a quick pop, over and over, like a rubber band against your skin. Ours has cryotechnology built in, so it hits you with a cold blast at the same time. You feel the cold more than anything else.

Can you get laser hair removal on every skin tone?

The industry measures this on a Fitzpatrick scale that goes up to six, from the lightest skin to the most melanin. I’d say we can treat safely up to a four or five. Where you fall on that scale, and what settings make sense for you, gets figured out in the consultation before anything happens.

Do you have to avoid the sun before hair removal, the way you do for other laser treatments?

Not the same way. Laser hair removal can be done pretty much year-round. It’s our Alex toning treatment (the laser facial, for things like sun damage and melasma) that needs four weeks out of the sun before and four weeks after. If you’re combining hair removal with a laser facial, plan around the toning appointment, not the hair removal one.

What else can this device treat?

A lot of people don’t realize this device treats more than hair.

  • Anti-aging and general skin tone through Alex toning.
  • Rosacea and redness.
  • Sun damage and melasma.
  • Vascular lesions like cherry angiomas, broken capillaries, and spider veins.

If you’re dealing with any of those, it’s worth asking about during a facial, not waiting until you book a separate laser appointment.

What’s next?
