Salt Room in Hendersonville TN

Salt Haven Med Spa’s salt room is a halotherapy room in Hendersonville, TN, where you sit for 45 minutes breathing salt ground finer than five microns. We built the whole spa around it. When we opened about 10 years ago, we were only the 119th salt room in the country.

Most people come in for seasonal allergies, sinus trouble, a cough that won’t quit, or skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. For allergies, once a week is usually enough to keep things at bay.

Sessions start at $25 for kids and $45 for adults, and everyone’s first session is $10. We have a separate Kids’ Salt Room, and you can almost always book same day.

What happens in a salt room session?

You put blue covers on your shoes, get into a very comfy chair, and cuddle up with the blanket we give you. Then most people go to sleep. Sarah calls it the best nap you’ll ever take. Street clothes are fine.

Behind the scenes, we’re pumping salt into the room the whole time. It’s fine enough that the room starts to look a little foggy, and you’re breathing it in for all 45 minutes.

“We pump it in at less than five microns, and it works as a toothbrush in your lungs and sinus cavities and things like that.”

Sarah, owner and esthetician

About Salt Lamp

How does salt therapy work?

Salt is naturally antibacterial, antiviral, and antimicrobial. Basically, not much can live in it. When you breathe in salt that fine, it reaches your lungs and sinus cavities and helps pull out whatever’s sitting in there.

That’s why a lot of people drain afterwards, or have a sneezing fit on the way to the car. That’s normal. It’s coming out.

Kids, in the Kids’ Salt Room

One of our very first clients came because her doctor sent her. She has COPD, and he’d told her she was already on as much medication as he could give her. As she tells it, her options were to move to the beach or try this place. She got an unlimited membership and came about four times a week. She says her breathing improved enough to start working out again, and she’s since come off some of her inhalers. (That’s her story and her doctor’s call, and it isn’t a promise.)

How often should you do salt therapy?

It depends on what you’re dealing with.

Regulars usually go with a monthly unlimited membership: $99 for adults, $59 for kids, or $220 for a family plan.

Can you come in if you're already sick?

Yes. If you call and tell us you have strep or bronchitis, you’re the person who needs it most. Let us know when you book, and we’ll make sure nobody else is in the room with you. We wash every blanket after every use.

What is the Kids' Salt Room?

The Kids’ Salt Room is a separate room where we pump in salt the same way, except kids don’t have to sit still. They play. A parent stays in the room with them the whole time.

We mostly see kids for allergies, runny noses, coughs, and ear infections, since it helps everything drain. It’s an option for babies who are too little for certain medicines, and for parents who’d rather not start with medicine at all. A kids’ session is $25, or $59 a month for unlimited.

What should you know before your first session?

The room holds up to 10 people, though most sessions have four to six. Keep it quiet. No phone calls, and no videos with the sound up. Reading or scrolling with the brightness turned down is fine.

The shoe covers are there to keep rocks and rainwater out, since water breaks salt down. And if you have eczema or psoriasis on your arms or legs, wear shorts or a tank top so the salt can reach your skin. Some clients bring a change of clothes in the winter and change here.
